The companies state: "The Western Union Company (WU) and International Money Express (IMXI) provided an update on the approval process and timeline for Western Union's pending acquisition of Intermex. To date, money transmission regulators in 51 applicable U.S. states and territories and in all international jurisdictions have provided their approval of or non-objection to the acquisition, and approval or non-objection is currently pending from one U.S. state. Western Union and Intermex remain actively engaged in discussions with regulators, including the New York State Department of Financial Services, to obtain the final regulatory approval. Western Union and Intermex anticipate closing the transaction as soon as reasonably practicable upon receipt of such approval as well as satisfaction of other customary closing conditions."

On August 10, Western Union (WU) announced an agreement to acquire International Money Express (IMXI). The company expects the transaction to close in the second quarter of 2026, subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions, including remaining regulatory approvals.

This new partnership connects Orbit's customers with Intermex's extensive payout network across Latin America and the Caribbean, allowing money to arrive quickly and securely through Orbit's digital platform or retail branches. Through this collaboration, Orbit customers can now send money to thousands of payout locations, including banks, mobile wallets, and retail stores in countries such as Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic.
