Wrap Technologies announced the launch of WrapShield, an autonomous defense and public safety platform designed to detect threats earlier and act with proportionate, mission-appropriate action. To serve the platform's detection layer, Wrap Technologies also announced a strategic investment in Frenel Imaging, an Israeli advanced-sensing company, together with an exclusive U.S. and NATO license to Frenel's proprietary TPiCore thermal-polarimetric imaging. "WrapShield represents our long-term vision for the future of defense and public safety," said Scot Cohen, CEO of Wrap Technologies. Wrap Technologies announced that the ATF has issued Ruling 2026-2, formally determining that the BolaWrap 150 is not a "firearm" under the Gun Control Act and not an "any other weapon" under the National Firearms Act. The ruling, signed by ATF Director Robert Cekada and which was effective as of July 2, states that the BolaWrap 150 is not a "weapon" because it is not an instrument of offensive or defensive combat. The ATF affirmatively classifies the BolaWrap 150 as "merely an instrument of restraint." The ruling is grounded in the U.S. Supreme Court's 2025 decision in Bondi v. VanDerSto, and explicitly supersedes any prior ATF classification of the BolaWrap 150, removing the federal regulatory ambiguity that the company believes has historically complicated BolaWrap procurement across multiple market segments. "This ruling confirms at the federal level what our company has demonstrated in the field: BolaWrap 150 is not regulated as a firearm or an 'any other weapon' under the federal statutes addressed by the ruling. It is a restraint tool designed to give officers a moment of control before an encounter escalates to force. We believe Ruling 2026-2 removes a federal classification framework that complicated BolaWrap procurement across corrections, civilian, and international markets. We also believe it may improve our ability to compete in segments that were structurally inaccessible before this ruling was issued," said Scot Cohen, founder and CEO.

Wrap Technologies announced that the University of Maryland, Baltimore County has purchased BolaWrap devices and NLR training as part of its initial deployment of non-lethal capabilities for campus safety and security.

Wrap Technologies announced that the Company is developing a new low-light training expansion for its WrapReality virtual reality platform. "Low-light encounters are a major part of patrol work, but they have historically been difficult to replicate safely, consistently, and at scale," said Jared Novick, President of WRAP. "We expect these enhancements to give agencies a more realistic way to train officers for nighttime decision-making, directional light use, communication, and force-option judgment. By integrating sight, sound, and then sensation, if necessary, into scenario-based training, WrapReality is intended to help officers to help officers recognize intervention windows, interrupt escalating behavior, maintain distance, and transition to appropriate follow-on control tactics when legally and tactically justified."
